Ship2

Made a simple spaceship in the Homeworld style to practice UV mapping.  Painting textures was so much fun, brought me back to my model kit building days.  Baking in the lighting really cuts down render time too! I used a background produced by Shi Yao http://raph.com/3dartists/artgallery/imagePage?iid=6793

Sell out

Hi all,

The Starship Pimperprises (high res 3566 x 1241 px) are available in print if anyone is interested.

2' wide poster is about $20.
4' wide for $50 if you're feeling frisky.

bugship 11 wip

Added some panel lines with a bump map, plus little details here and there.  Once I'm done texturing I think this version will be finished.  Next up is rebuilding this for mini scale 3d printing.

bugship wip 3

Working on bugship.  When it's finished, I'm thinking to sell 3d prints of this model from shapeways.com scaled to about 5" length.  Hopefully there is a demand for mini desktop spaceships.  Any money from this will go towards making a bigger (maybe 10") version for graduation.

Home

Goodbye to another term.  The collector was definitely a project to remember for me.  I learned a lot about spaceships and their peculiarities and now I realize exactly how little I do know haha.  There's a lot more I wanted to do with this project that I hope I'll get around to in the future.

You can see the complete (for now) project here

Now to start practicing sketching cars and wait for paperwork from Mattel...they really are starting to worry me...

Collector front model catchup

Adjusting proportions and adding new objects to match sketchover:

In photoshop I set the sketchover to 50% over the original model render.
In Modo/3DS/whatever, I have two viewports set up: one for modelling, one with the cameraview that I rendered and sketched over previously.  This way I can check the cameraview against the 50/50 reference image for consistency in real time.  Alot more accurate than eyeballing it and easier too.

Thing

A doodle from this summer.  I want to do a render of this eventually

And this is the magic of powerwall.  I need to get the presentation chopped up for portfolio, the rest is coming soon.

Goodies

Most of this is Rob Cunningham's work for the Homeworld Series, some of the sketches from 98.  I remember playing the game on a 700mhz "supercomputer" in 99 and being blown away by the visuals.
